El Tri Report: Raúl, Carlos V, and Jona help lift their clubs

Another big weekend (and Monday) of football for the Mexicans abroad with their clubs. Some are coming into the weekend after Champions League play, so there’s a lot to watch for El Tri fans.

Take a look at how they did…

Carlos Vela – Real Sociedad (Spain)

Carlitos Vela went the full 90 minutes against Valencia, and he was crucial in the match. Although he failed to convert a penalty, he did record two assists in the 3-1 victory.

Carlos Salcedo – Fiorentina (Italy)

Carlos started and went the full 90 minutes against Sassuolo. Another solid game for the defender in the 2-1 victory, cementing his role with his new club.

Diego Reyes – Espanyol (Spain)

Diego was given the start at center-back and went the full 90 minutes against Sporting Gijon. He was pivotal in the 2-1 victory for Espanyol.

Hector Herrera, Miguel Layún, Tecatito – FC Porto (Portugal)

Tecatito was given the start against Feirense, while Herrera sat in the first half. Herrera would end up subbing on for Tecatito in the 4-0 victory for FC Porto.

Miguel Layún rested due to injury.

Raúl Jiménez – Benfica (Portugal)

Raúl made it in the starting XI and he came up big for Benfica against Sporting. It was his goal that would be the eventual game winner, and he now has scored 4 goals in his last four matches.

Chicharito – Bayer Leverkusen (Germany)

Chicharito was placed in the starting XI against Schalke. It was his play which resulted in an ejection for Schalke. However, not an exceptional match for Bayer Leverkusen. They ended up winning, 1-0, but Chicharito’s goal drought continues.

Hector Moreno, Andrés Guardado – PSV (Netherlands)

Hector started and went the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles.

Andrés continues to recover from a leg injury he picked up against the USA in November.

Marco Fabián – Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany)

Marco made the starting lineup for Frankfurt and he played the full match. The score ended 0-0 against Hoffenheim.

Memo Ochoa – Granada (Spain)

Memo is starting to find his groove for Granada. He came up big for his club against his former club Malaga in the 1-1 draw.

Jonathan dos Santos – Villarreal (Spain)

Jona continues his start for Villarreal, and was a huge part of their 3-0 blasting of Altético Madrid. He scored the second goal of the match, and went the full 90 minutes.
