Transfer Rumors: Alexis Sanchez May Be Staying At Arsenal

Greed and stubbornness are two elements that factor against the progression of a player’s career. It can also prevent a move to a club. The over-the-top salary demands of Alexis Sanchez’s representatives, combined with the stubborness of embattled Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, may prevent Sanchez from moving to Unai Emery’s Paris Saint-Germain. And this could open the door for Manchester City to make their move and acquire the Chilean international.

Should Sanchez stay with the Gunners, it will be interesting to see how he will be received by the fans, who already are feeling the effects of their “WengerOUT” campaign from last year crumbling in similar fashion. Arsenal’s most recent preseason outing saw Chelsea avenge their FA Cup defeat to the Gunners in a 3-0 loss. Metro writes…

Before the Gunners left China on Saturday night, Wenger spoke to reporters about the rumours involving Sanchez – and also those linking PSG with Barcelona striker Neymar.

‘I read L’Equipe in the last three or four days,’ said Wenger. ‘It [the rumours] has moved from Sanchez to Neymar. Today they speak about Neymar, three days ago they speak about Alexis. They need as well, like you [reporters], subjects.’

When it was suggested that surely PSG could not sign both the forwards, Wenger commented: ‘No. They cannot get Sanchez so they go for Neymar.’

PSG have been linked with an incredible move to pay Neymar’s £195million release clause to steal him away from Barcelona.

Speaking of Neymar, Gerard Pique is suggesting that the Brazilian may have left the Parisians out to dry when everything had been settled except for the signature.

According to a report from Marca, PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has asked the Government of Qatar (of which he has distinct connections to) to sponsor Neymar and help even out the ledgers to assure that PSG still complies with the current Financial Fair Play rules put into place. The deal is yet to be finalized, however, there is still time to see that both Sanchez and Neymar remain at Arsenal and Barcelona, an about-face that would be a massive blow to Antero Henrique’s tenure at PSG as well as to the overall project that is being envisioned at the club.
