In one of the most up and down seasons in recent memory for Arsenal, we were all witnesses to the true emotions of fans of the Gunners. Long serving manager Arsene Wenger, had the support of the board, but never had the support of the fans it seemed from an outside perspective. Some supporters were going to the extreme of flying #WengerOut banners above games to try and get the French manager to leave the club at the end of the season.

However, it seems like we missed what was truly happening. The main group of fans that are at matches and ones that are Arsenal fans through and through, do not support the small group of fans who are trying to rile up the rest of the supporters to see Wenger leave the club. On Wednesday, Arsenal announced that Wenger has signed a brand new two year contract to keep him at the Emirates.

To say Arsenal’s season was a success or a failure is difficult to say. On one hand, Arsenal finished 5th place in the league which puts them in the Europa League next season which will not help their recruitment process of bringing new transfers this summer. But on the other hand, Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup final in which the Gunners impressed the whole match.

However, it seems like star player Alexis Sanchez is headed to another club this summer and possibly to a Premier League rival. If Sanchez leaves the club to go to another EPL side, it will be another name to the ever-expanding list of Gunners to leave the club for other Premier League giants. If Pep Guardiola gets his way at Manchester City, Sanchez could join players like Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy as Gunners to leave London for Manchester.

The season itself was relatively disappointing for the Gunners, but winning a trophy always makes things better in my eyes. Although it was the FA Cup, a victory over a dominant Chelsea squad just makes things that much sweeter for Arsenal fans.

Wenger may have struggled this year and some fans may not like the direction he is taking the club, but he has been one of the most consistent good managers in all of world football since he took over at Arsenal. He finds a way most years to get into the Champions League, win trophies, and still get hated on by fans for not doing more than should be expected of the sides he manages.

If he is able to bring in a high profile replacement for the seemingly outgoing Sanchez, Arsenal could be back and better than ever next season. The one thing above all else that Arsenal needs at the moment is stability, and Wenger brings that to the club. #WengerIN
