Preparing for a team like Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid isn’t easy, but Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich believe they are battle-tested and battle-hardened to get the job done. To start, Bayern warm up for the UEFA Champions League semifinal with a match at home to Andre Breitenreiter’s Schalke 04.

“I know the Spanish league very well and I know how strong Atlético are,” said Guardiola. “They’ve had the same coach for many years. They know exactly what they have to do. It’s always very complicated against them. The atmosphere at the Estadio Vicente Calderón is the best in Europe, it’s going to be a great experience for us. We need 90 minutes and then another 90 minutes of full concentration. Diego Simeone is one of the best coaches in the world. He’s changed the club, Atlético have reached a new level over the last five years.”

“We move on from the Champions League. Bundesliga routine is all that counts tomorrow. We have nothing to give away. We absolutely have to win,” said sporting director Matthias Sammer on Friday.  “We have seven games in three weeks in which everything’s at stake. If you ease off by one or two percent you end up second.”

“It’s going to be a very, very hard game because we have the shortest week possible,” said Philipp Lahm. “We have to win. We mustn’t carelessly let our lead over Dortmund shrink.”

“We’re definitely underdogs, but we’ll still go to Munich in good spirits and aim for a positive result,” said Breitenreiter. “If our attitude to the match is to go looking for a hiding place we’ll have no chance. We’ll give it our best shot and try to get a result.“

Kickoff at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. PT/12:30 p.m. ET on Apr. 16, 2016. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for the match between Bayern Munich and Schalke 04.
