With the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, Chelsea will be looking for a new talisman and it could come in the form of American attacker Christian Pulisic.
The youngest captain in USMNT history signed with Chelsea in January 2019 in a deal worth $73 million, making him the most expensive American player of all time but remained for the rest of 2018/19 season at Borussia Dortmund.
So far this season, Pulisic has made two competitive appearances for the Blues, firstly a substitute appearance in their first game of the season, away at Manchester United, which ended in a 4-0 defeat. However he started in the Super Cup against Liverpool which saw Pulisic make an inch perfect pass to Olivier Giroud who opened the scoring for Chelsea. Shortly afterwards, Pulisic thought he had doubled their lead when he cut in from the left hand side and smashed the ball into the bottom corner but it was ruled out for offside.
What a confidence boosting 45 minutes for Christian Pulisic. In first competitive start for Chelsea he delivers this deft assist followed by a fine finish ruled narrowly offside. Super Cup is a glorified friendly but he’ll draw Courage none the less 🇺🇸🙌 pic.twitter.com/0R0DCYtacV

Even though the Super Cup ultimately ended in defeat on penalties, Chelsea themselves and especially Pulisic put in a much better performance than they did at Old Trafford.
Christian Pulisic’s #SuperCup by numbers vs. Liverpool:
47 touches
5 crosses
2 chances created
2 shots
1 assistThe disallowed goal would have made it even better. 👏 pic.twitter.com/KiISiuCNBz

Pulisic has already shown he is capable of performing on the biggest stage with the fact he is the youngest player to appear and score for Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. Also he was a vital component of Dortmund winning the 2016/17 DFB-Pokal.
Currently he is 20 years old so there’s so much time for him to develop and mature as a player as well step into the big shoes left by Eden Hazard. With the fact as well Chelsea has a transfer embargo until the end of January 2020, Manager Frank Lampard who has already shown a lot of faith in young players at the club, he will be hoping that Pulisic can adjust from the Bundesliga and become a real success in the Premier League.
