CONCACAF Champions League Preview (Feb. 24)

MLS
Robbie Keane #7 of the Los Angeles Galaxy celebrates with Alan Gordon #9 and Baggio Husidic #6 after scoring the Galaxy's second goal in the second half against the Chicago Fire at StubHub Center on March 6, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. The Galaxy won 2-0.

After two matches on February 23, Wednesday offers another night of rivalry matches. It’s Tigres vs Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy vs Santos Laguna.

Liga MX has the advantage after Tuesday night with 1 win (Querétaro 2, DC United 0), and a draw (Seattle 2, Club América 2)…

Tigres vs Real Salt Lake

It’s no secret that Tigres will be the favorites entering this match. They will have the home field and are stacked in the attack…it also helps that they are the reigning Liga MX champions.

Real Salt Lake does have fresh legs, and Tigres will be without Mexican international Javier Aquino, who has been playing at a high level lately.

They key for Real Salt Lake is to escape without as much damage as possible. Leaving Mexico with a draw or one goal loss may keep their hopes intact.

Kickoff is at 8 ET, 5 PAC from Estadio Olímpico Universitario

LA Galaxy vs Santos Laguna

This will be one match where the MLS side may have the edge, especially with LA Galaxy hosting Santos Laguna first.

The Galaxy have some big names on their roster like Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole, Robbie KeaneNigel de Jong just to name a few. This is going to be the spotlight match during the CONCACAF Champions league quarterfinals, and with good reason.

Unlike Real Salt Lake, though, Santos Laguna can’t expect to live with a draw or one goal loss. They have the firepower to score, and they can’t let a big name roster intimidate their chances in this duel.

Kickoff is at 10 ET, 7 PAC from StubHub Center
