Cristiano Ronaldo debuts “Savage Beauty” Superflys

While Cristiano Ronaldo was playing against PSG in the Champions League today, I noticed something different on his feet. Ronaldo has finally debuted his brand new “Savage Beauty” boots in one of the biggest matches of the season to date. The Portuguese winger was unable to find the back of the net for Los Blancos, but Real won the match 1-0 and punched their ticket to the knockout stage. It never seems to matter what new colorway of the Mercurial Superfly he wears, he always finds a way to score with his powerful strikes and explosive runs. The design embodies what the man is all about, explosive, hot headed, and dangerous.

Nike dropped the “Magma” hot release last week with the CR7 Savage Beauty Superfly cleats to celebrate the 1st chapter in the Ballon d’Or winner’s life. Nike created the unique looking boot to honor where the Portuguese superstar grew up. Ronaldo was born in Madeira, Portugal. The city is found within several islands off the mainland of Portugal. The Volcano or flowing lava design is to show that the island is on top of an enormous shield volcano. No don’t be worried, the last known eruption was almost 6000 years ago.

Nike gave a black-based Mercurial Superfly a special treatment by giving a graphic of flowing lava on the upper. The Superfly gives a more subtle lava flow compared the to Vapor version which the graphic is much more vibrant. This is due to the fact that it is extremely difficult to print that style of graphic on top of the Flyknit upper. A CR7 logo is found on the back heel in a more raised graphic to give the logo a popping out of the boot look. This is one of those colorways were a lot of people will love it, but just as many will think it looks ridiculous. I am a lover of the boot and think it is.
