Here we go again with another report regarding the future of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Fresh off leading Real Madrid to back-to-back Champions League trophies and a La Liga title, his future with Los Blancos has come into question.
A report from Portuguese publication A Bola, stated that multiple clubs were preparing £156 million offers for the mercurial 32-year-old striker. Some of the teams highlighted were Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain with the Chinese Super League also mentioned.
A reporter posed the question to Forbes’ highest-paid athlete about a possible departure away from the Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo responded,
“Nothing is impossible”
Naturally the media goes into a frenzy when an athlete of Ronaldo’s stature casts doubt on his playing future. But for a player who has seemingly won everything at Real Madrid, perhaps another challenge could interest the Portugal international.
Despite his age, CR7 is showing no signs of slowing down. He put on another Ballon D’Or-worthy performance this year as well as setting new milestones in his illustrious career.

He’s flirted with leaving Madrid on numerous occasions but never really follows through despite a number of issues with press and fans alike. He just signed a contract extension tying him to the club until 2021 surely making his release clause the highest in soccer.
Real Madrid is in the midst of revamping its title-winning squad with Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale all in the rumor mill. If Madrid truly wanted to cash in on their superstar, they would surely be able to add more talent to their already loaded squad. They’ve been linked with Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe and David De Gea.
There is no realistic reason for Ronaldo to even consider leaving Real Madrid. They are on top of world football and will be in contention for more silverware if they remain together. But if the iconic No. 7 decided to leave, the only viable option would be his beloved Manchester United given his affinity for club and Sir Alex Ferguson.

After pretty much owning all records at Madrid, perhaps adding more to his history at Old Trafford could intrigue him. United are back in the Champions League and are in dire need of a goal-scoring machine. They were spurned by Antoine Griezmann and appear reluctant to splash the cash on other forward options plus reportedly will not offer a new contract to their top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Red Devils are bold enough to shatter another transfer fee record if Ronaldo showed an interest in joining them. Last season they added Paul Pogba in a world-record transaction from Juventus and were willing to do it again for Griezmann and will no doubt do the same for CR7.
In the end, Cristiano Ronaldo will ultimately stay in La Liga because it’s difficult to imagine a club to pony up the kind of money to get Real Madrid to the negotiating table for their All-time scorer. The money would be great for the club but losing Ronaldo would be a massive hit to Los Blancos as they are on the verge of ushering in a new dynasty.
