Liga MX fans have another weekend of league action coming, on top of Mexico‘s run in the Olympic tournament. With that being said, here are three games this weekend that fans should mark in their calendars…
Friday, August 5
Club América vs Veracruz
Kicking off the weekend of play is Club América vs Veracruz in a match where both teams are striving to bounce back from week 3 losses. Club América was handled by Tigres, 0-3, while Veracruz lost a lackluster match to Atlas, 0-1. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy my Friday night than with two Liga MX teams hungry to right their wrongs from the previous week.
Saturday, August 6
Pumas vs Necaxa
Necaxa might not be shining in the standings, but for a newly promoted team, they have held their own. They host undefeated Pumas in what will be a great Saturday night showdown. Despite not losing yet, Pumas have only scored twice in three weeks (and one goal was from an own-goal). Don’t be too surprised if Necaxa gives Pumas their first L of the season.
Sunday, August 7
Toluca vs Pachuca
One of Mexico’s giants, Toluca, has not found their way in the 2016 Apertura. Only one point in three weeks, something needs to get going or they will be in serious trouble. Only to pile on to their discomfort, Toluca will have to face Pachuca who sit in first place. Granted some of Pachuca’s big guns will be on duty in the Olympics (Hirving Lozano, Erick Gutiérrez), so this may be the chance Toluca has to get their season back on the proper footing.
