We continue to roll on in the Autumn season of Liga MX and the headlines continue to keep us on the edge of our seat. We saw some major victories, as well as some unexpected results.

Take a look at how the teams fared…

Friday, July 29

Tijuana Xolos 4, Chivas Guadalajara 0

Tijuana and Chivas kicked off the third week of action, but the game was as lopsided as it could be. Tijuana got on the board in the 19th minute with a goal from Dayro Moreno and the floodgates opened. Tijuana claimed the three points with a big 4-0 win.

If there is a team to keep an eye on, it is Querétaro. Their 2-1 win over Puebla keeps them undefeated (2-1-0) and boosted them to second in the standings.

Monterrey 1, Cruz Azul 1

Cruz Azul got on the board with a goal from Jorge Benítez in the 21st minute. However, the lead was canceled only a minute later with a goal by Rogelio Funes Mori. The game ended 1-1.

Atlas 1, Veracruz 0

It wasn’t a pretty match, but Atlas will happily take the three points. An own goal by Veracruz in the 82nd minute gave Atlas the much needed win.

Pachuca continues to be the strongest team in the league, but Necaxa came in to battle regardless. John Medina was the lone scorer which ultimately gave Pachuca the victory.

Tigres 3, Club América 0

Club América looked good to start the season, however, Tigres had other things in mind on Saturday. A huge 3-0 victory on the road will give Tigres all the confidence needed to power forward with their title hopes.

Sunday, July 31

Pumas 1, Club León 0

Another scrappy match, but Pumas will take the victory. A late goal by Javier Cortes was all that was needed to power past a, what is now, a Club León heading towards panic mode.

Chiapas 1, Toluca 0

In one of the most unexpected results of the weekend, Chiapas handled themselves in a close battle with TolucaAlonzo Escoboza scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute.

Morelia 4, Santos Laguna 2

In the most offensive match of week 3, Morelia got the better of Santos Laguna in a fire fight. It was a massive win for Morelia, as they are now in 8th place. Yet, there is a lot of football to play, but this will be a nice win on the schedule this season.
