Wayne Rooney is on the cusp of becoming the Red Devils’ all-time scorer but that accomplishment will mask his less than stellar play on the pitch.
Summer signing Eric Bailly has been impressive but Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been the most impactful signing for Manchester United and it’s not surprising that the club want him to stay a little longer. A two-year extension is being rumored for the 35-year-old.
The towering Swede has brought his goal scoring prowess to the Premier League and is currently thriving with his new club. He’s joint-top leader in goals (14) in the league, has his team battling for a top-4 spot in the EPL table and still competing in the round of 32 in the Europa League.
His goals are great for the club but his impact goes far beyond than scoring. His mere presence on the pitch provides the club with a swag that was non existent. Ibra has never been one to shy away from criticism with his quotes but his confidence to back up what he says is something to admire.

Marcus Rashford acknowledged Ibrahimovic’s presence in the clubhouse and how his influence is great for the other young players on the team. The 19-year-old starlet will benefit immensely playing alongside the veteran striker.
“For the young players to see his character and the way he approaches every game is invaluable,” Rashford said while speaking at a Nike event in Germany. “Some players can’t bring that when they move clubs.
“We have to try to learn from him while he is here and take what we can from his game.”
Ibrahimovic has been successful everywhere he’s played winning 13 league titles in the last 15 years with top-notch clubs like Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain to name a few. Every where he’s been he’s helped his clubs hoist silverware earning himself a whopping 33 major trophies.
It makes a ton of sense for Manchester United to extend Zlatan’s contract given his importance to the team. There is a buzz at Old Trafford that was missing since Cristiano Ronaldo‘s time there and Zlatan is a major reason why.

In the last 10 EPL games he’s been directly involved in the team’s last 13 goals per Squawka. His imposing figure and physical style of play has made him the ideal striker to restore order at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately he wont be around forever, although his former coach thinks Zlatan can play well into his 40’s, so it would be in the club’s best interest to retain Ibrahimovic. The way he’s playing right now seems like he’s in his prime. I think he’s earned a longer stay.
