Hirving Lozano confirmed his move to PSV during the group stages of the Confederations Cup, and Mexican fans around the world collectively said “Finally!” The former Pachuca winger was one of the newcomers to the Mexican national team and his presence has been crucial since his first match.
On Saturday, August 12, Hirving got his debut in the starting XI for PSV. It was a special moment for the 22-year-old, as the stadium was packed and fans were ready to watch their new Mexican signing. He was the first Eredivisie debutant to score for PSV since Marco van Ginkel did it back in 2016.
When given the opportunities, Hirving Lozano looked poised and in control. Almost scoring early on with his left foot, you could feel that he was going get his goal, and in the 31st minute, he did. Receiving the ball on the left wing, Hirving cut in and scored to bring the game level. It was a huge moment for the Mexican international, as you could tell his involvement with the team is and will be massive.
He didn’t stop there, either. In less than ten minutes, Lozano had two great opportunities to add to his tally. One by beating the keeper, but unfortunately had his shot stopped by a defender. Another where he had a 1 v 1 with his shot going high and hitting the crossbar.

Although he was unable to add more to his name, PSV got the victory. The new campaign has started off great for one of Mexico’s most vital players in Hirving Lozano, and it will be a fun time tracking him over the next few months and even up to the World Cup.
