The Mexicans in Europe had one of the best weekends we have seen in a long time. Granted, not all of them saw victories, but the increase in playing time and contributions to goals was a great sign in this important World Cup year. There really is no such thing as a perfect weekend for Mexicans abroad, yet, this was as close as you can get.

Take a look at who shined over the weekend…

Chicharito scores West Ham’s lone goal

The stint with West Ham for Chicharito has not been a fantastic one. From huge losses, lack of playing time, David Moyes, Chicharito has seen better times (specifically in the Bundesliga). However, his weekend was a special one, as he scored a tremendous equalizing goal for the Hammers. Unfortunately, West Ham would fall to Brighton & Hove Albion, 3-1.

PSV extended its lead in the title race in the Eredivisie on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over PEC Zwolle. Of course, Hirving Lozano played a huge role in their victory. Adding two assists to his name, as well as helping his teammate claim a hat-trick, Chucky continues to show his impressive quality with PSV.

Reyes scores, all Mexicans start for FC Porto

Now that Miguel Layún has moved to Sevilla, three Mexicans remain for the FC Porto first team. On Saturday, they all started against Sporting Braga. In the 38th minute, Diego Reyes added to his goalscoring tally with a header off a corner. This has become a theme for the defender as of late.

Diego Reyes and Héctor Herrera went the distance, while Tecatito was subbed out in the 65th minute. FC Porto ended up winning, 3-1, extending their lead over Benfica by two points.

Raúl scores Benfica’s fifth

It has been difficult for Raúl to win starts with his teammate Jonas scoring goals like a machine. Lately, however, Raúl has been capitalizing on the time he does get on the pitch. Subbing on for Jonas in the 81st minute, Raúl managed to score only four minutes later, putting the game away, 5-1, over Rio Ave.
