Mihajlović Confident In AC Milan Comeback

AC Milan
Kevin Prince Boateng (L) of AC Milan celebrates his goal during the Serie A match between AC Milan and ACF Fiorentina at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on January 17, 2016 in Milan, Italy.

“Under pressure” AC Milan boss Siniša Mihajlović hopes that Sunday’s 2-0 victory over title contenders Fiorentina will motivate his side forward. Mihajlović has been enduring a very abysmal season managing the Rossoneri this 2015-2016 campaign. Siniša Mihajlović was also grateful for the support he received from AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi before their clash against Fiorentina at the San Siro.

Colombian striker and former Sevilla forward Carlos Bacca netted the first goal for the home side inside four minutes and “prodigal son” Kevin Prince Boateng scored Milan’s second coming off the bench for Mihajlović. The Serbian coach, trusts his side can provide the foundation for success in the latter stages of Italy’s Serie A campaign.

“I am very happy, I have to thank the guys, we have closed a complicated week in the best way,” Siniša Mihajlović stated during a press conference after their 2-0 victory. “I hope this will be the round of revenge and vengeance. The goal is to try to play this way and climb positions in the rankings.”

Siniša Mihajlovic’s squad may possibly have new additions this January transfer season. AC Milan’s Chief Executive, Adriano Galliani, discussed a plethora of potential transfer targets to Mediaset Premium. Galliani pointed out to the broadcaster that one of his targets is River Plate’s Argentine left-back Leonel Vangioni who could arrive in January. “Let’s see if we can anticipate the arrival of Vangioni from River in January” said Galliani.

Another potential target mentioned by the Milan CEO was Zenit St Petersburg‘s battling Belgian midfielder, Axel Witsel. “Witsel I do not think it will move now, but he may do so in July,” mentioned the CEO. Galliani went on to point out the possible move for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia and Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi.

Adriano Galliani was very quick to point out in order for AC Milan to acquire Anwar El Ghazi, the Rossoneri have to find away to offload Stephan El Shaarawy. El Shaarawy was on loan to Leonardo Jardim‘s Monaco. Stephan’s loan deal had a particular clause, which forced Monaco to buy the forward after he makes 25 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

Galliani went on to describe the decision by Monaco to forego El Shaarawy’s 25 appearances (so they didn’t have to “purchase” the forward) as “You all (the media) can define their behavior. Calling it ‘bizarre’ is putting it nicely.”

The Rossoneri will travel to the region of Florence to take on Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani. The next grueling match comes in the final week in January when the much-anticipated Derbi Della Madonnina (Milan Derby) takes center stage in Serie A.
