Tigres 1, Monterrey 3

The reigning champs, Tigres, hosted the best team in the regular season of Liga MX in Monterrey in the first match of the playoffs. The packed Volcán was ready to see Tigres defend their home, but Monterrey had a different plan in store.

In the 16th minute, Carlos Sánchez saw a cross coming right his way and shot it perfectly to put Monterrey up, 1-0. However, Tigres had a quick response to the first punch. Only three minutes later, Rafael Sobís shot a left footed line-drive from distance to even up the game.

Monterrey will look to wrap up the second leg on Saturday, May 14th at 8:00 ET, 5:00 PAC.

Morelia 1, Club León 1

Club León entered as the visitors in the first leg against Morelia, but they came out in the match with a lot of control. In fact, at points throughout the first half, León looked like the home team. Yet, there were unable to net anything in the half, despite looking the better side.

Club León kept up their pressure in the second half, and in the 50th minute, Luis Montes received the ball in the box and slotted home the first goal of the game, putting León up, 1-0.

Morelia seemed to up their pace after that goal, and eleven minutes later they responded. Cristian Pellerano scored a scrappy goal from a deflection off of William Yarbrough to get the home team back into the match.
