In one of the crazier sounding transfer rumors, Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller has been linked to a Premier League club. It’s not one of the Manchester Clubs. It’s not even a London club. That’s right, the German striker has been linked to Liverpool! Bleacher Report is reporting that new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen on bringing the striker to Liverpool and would prefer him to his current group of strikers.
Reports in Germany also claim that Bayern is in talks with Müller over a new contract to keep him at the club past his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2017. In this last window, reports came from all over Europe that Bayern had turned down big offers for the player. Some reports even said that Manchester United offered nearly 100 millions euros, and Bayern said no. That being said, it seems an absolutely stunning bid would have to come from the English side to even get Bayern to listen to the offer.
Liverpool already has several big name strikers on the payroll with Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Christian Benteke, and Mario Balotelli (on loan with AC Milan). So who would get the boot if Müller were to come in? My first bet would be on Balotelli. The experiment to bring him into the club seems to have failed, but Klopp has yet to see what the striker has in the EPL as he was brought in under Brendan Rodgers. Secondly, you would think Ings would be loaned out or sold. One of the two outlying strikers would surely have to leave to make room for a new front man.
Although the move may come off to a few as one that will never come to be, if Liverpool were to splash the cash, Müller could be that perfect replacement for longtime favorite, and FC Barcelona star, Luis Suarez.
So Liverpool fans, what do you think? Would you be excited to see Müller wearing the famous Liver bird on his chest?
