It’s not often soccer fans get the opportunity to watch a championship game on Christmas, but it was the case for the second leg of the Liga MX title game. Tigres and Club América clashed for the Liga MX title on Sunday, December 25. The teams entered the game, 1-1, on aggregate from the first leg played in Estadio Azteca.

The game was heated and back and forth with attacks from both teams. At the end of the 90 minutes, they needed extra time to find a winner. It was the youngster, Edson Álvarez who gave Club América the go-ahead lead in the 95th minute of the match.

It looked as if the goal from Álvarez was going to be enough for Club América, however, Jesús Dueñas equalized with one minute to go. It was a shocking turn around with almost no time left.

The teams then needed to head over to penalties, because of the equal aggregate score. For Tigres, the penalties were converted with ease. For Club América, not one found the back of the net. All three attempts missed, giving Tigres the honor of being crowned Liga MX champions once again.
