After a very short draw that took place in Italy this morning, we finally found out who will play in the Champions League Quarterfinals and we saw some interesting match-ups get pulled out of the pot. Let’s take a brief look at who will be playing who and when you can watch each leg for the teams.
VfL Wolfsburg v Real Madrid
This one is one of the two match ups that will either be a huge upset or a breeze for Madrid. Comparing both sides we see stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Isco, and James Rodriguez, compared to players like Julian Draxler, Naldo, Andre Schurrle, and the lord himself, Nicklas Bendtner. Anything can happen in the Champions League, but I don’t see Wolfsburg beating Madrid over two legs. I’m picking Real to advance in this one.
Bayern Munich v Benfica
Now this one has blowout written all over it. Bayern Munich not only have more experience in the Champions League but talent alone. The likes of Jonas and Nicolas Gaitan will attempt to pressure the talented Bayern defense. The thing is however, is that Bayern is firing on all cylinders in all competitions. Robert Lewandowski, Kingsley Coman, and Thomas Muller will have no problem over two legs. Bayern will move on from this feature.
Barcelona v Atletico Madrid
In a match up that will undoubtedly divide opinions between some of our writers, La Liga rivals will face off in a two-legged affair. The likes of Leo Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Jan Oblak, Antoine Griezmann, and Koke will all share the field in the highly touted match up. Although it may upset many of my fellow writers, I’m picking Barça to move forward against their Spanish rivals.
This one could also be an incredible match up that could end up in penalties in the second leg. Manchester City will be looking to keep their hot streak in the UCL going by moving forward in Europe against the already crowned French Champions PSG. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria, and Edison Cavani will look to break down the weakened City defense. Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Yaya Toure seem hungrier than ever to win a Champions League title and Joe Hart believes the team could surprise a few and win it all this season. I think City will move on but only by a goal or will move on with penalties.
